And then there’s Modern Warfare 2’s most infamous level: the intentionally controversial No Russian, in which you’re sent undercover and asked to shoot innocent civilians in a Russian airport terminal alongside the bad guys (and yes, you can still skip it if you don’t feel comfortable playing it). And breaching a door in slow motion is still one heck of a grin-inducing experience. The weapons as played through the lens of 2020 expectations are a collection of same-y machine guns intermixed with some still-as-fun-as-ever fun thermal-scope automatic weapons, sniper rifles, and riot shotguns.
That speaks to how memorable a lot of these missions are: I still love the snowmobile escape early on, the frantic fight through the favelas, the battle at Burger Town where you can sadistically abuse the drone-strike missile capability you’re given, surviving the war in firebombed Washington DC, and the very memorable finale. It will be interesting to see whether the game will be available separately from the start or will follow in the same footsteps as Modern Warfare Remastered and only be available on its own later.“Given that I haven’t played this 4-6-hour campaign since it originally came out, I’m surprised at how much of it I remembered. Seeing as how Infinity Ward's Call of Duty game is presumably up to bat this year, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered makes plenty of sense again. Modern Warfare Remastered was included with special editions of Infinite Warfare, the last Infinity Ward game in the series.
It doesn't give any details, but if PEGI is saying it, it's very likely not made up out of thin air. No such remaster has been officially announced by Activision yet, but a listing (and subsequent 18+ rating) for the game has appeared on the Pan European Game Information board, or PEGI. A ratings board leak coming out of Europe, however, suggests that the follow up to that plan may be coming in the obvious form of Modern Warfare 2.
After Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Activision indicated they were hoping to follow suit with other Call of Duty remasters, but they haven't said much about that plan since then.
